Mac is coached by Andrew Groves and has been working with him for the past three years. We're so grateful to have found Andrew early in Mac's bowling journey and can't think of a better coach for him.
One of the things I appreciate about Andrew is that he always meets Mac exactly where he is at the time. He applies this flexible approach to every practice, specific phases of Mac's development and to the peaks and valleys of youth tournaments. I encourage you to read his blog posts to get an idea of how he approaches the game so that you can glean valuable information for yourself or youth youth bowler.
Another thing I appreciate is Andrew's instincts regarding when to push Mac, when to sit back & observe and when to cut loose and have some fun. I think this skill is one of the most important (and often underappreciated) skills a coach possesses. Mac gets a big kick out of Andrew's creative and fun practice challenges that yield a treat from the snack bar if he wins or a required gulp of iced tea (Mac's least favorite food or drink in the world) if he loses.
And most importantly, he's earned our complete trust as Mac's coach. We can step back and be parents and stay out of bowling-related details entirely. Not that I'd have a ton to offer on the lanes, anyway :)
I've seen a lot of coaches over the years. He's as good as any I've ever worked with and we're so grateful to have found a world-class coach that's such a great fit for Mac.
If you have a youth bowler competing in tournaments or are a competitive bowler yourself looking to improve your game we can't recommend him enough! If you'd like an introduction, please fill out the form below and we'll pass along your information to Andrew.
